Earth, Wind & Fire was founded in 1970 by Maurice White, who also produced most of their albums. Stylistically the band belongs to the funk genre, while other influences, especially from soul and jazz, are mixed with African rhythms.
Besides the productions of Maurice White, the horn section and the vocals of Philip Bailey were the main characteristics for the sound of the band.
