Flamenco is a Spanish musical genre that occurs mainly in Andalusia and the regions of Extremadura and the Murcia region. Flamenco as we know it today dates back to the 18th century, and there are controversies about its origins, because although there are different opinions and aspects, none of them are historically proven. Although flamenco is mainly associated with the ethnic group of gypsies, the fusion of the different cultures that collapsed in Andalusia at that time is more than perceptible. Of all the hypotheses about its origin, the most widespread is that which reveals its Moorish origin, but the cultural mix of natives, Muslims, Gypsies, Castilians and Jews that took place in Andalusia at that time led to its emergence.
