Jethro Tull

1-2 of 2

Founded in England in 1967, Jethro Tull is considered one of the most significant and idiosyncratic bands of the progressive rock era. Under the charismatic leadership of singer and flautist Ian Anderson, the group developed a distinctive style that blends rock, folk, blues, and classical music. Their debut album “This Was” already revealed blues influences, but with works like “Stand Up” and “Aqualung” they increasingly ventured into experimental and progressive territory. Characteristic of Jethro Tull’s sound are acoustic guitars, complex arrangements, and Anderson’s striking use of the flute, which set the band apart from many of their contemporaries.
